  • Lead and Assistant Counselors

    Each year, Beauvoir carefully selects Lead Counselors and Assistant Counselors from a pool of interested candidates. Lead Counselors are college graduates, and most often teachers from Beauvoir and other local elementary schools, with training in early childhood education. Assistant Counselors must have high school diploma or equivalent and have an interest in working with young children.

    Successful candidates must pass a criminal background check, FBI fingerprinting and submit a completed health form in accordance with District of Columbia law.

  • Swim Staff

    Our Swim Staff provides a safe, developmentally appropriate environment for our campers.  They are familiar with Red Cross swim levels and water safety practice. The Swim Staff is able to adapt their teaching approaches to the age, experience and ability of participants, so they can meet course objectives while having fun.  Each member of the Swim Staff will need to be CPR/AED and First Aid certified and will go through Water Safety Training. 

    Candidates must also have high school diploma or equivalent. Successful candidates must also pass a criminal background check, FBI fingerprinting and submit a completed health form in accordance with District of Columbia law.

  • After Camp Staff (ABC)

    The After Beauvoir Center (ABC) staff offers extended day services to all camp families with pre-registration. The principal goal of ABC is to provide a safe, stimulating and relaxed environment for Beauvoir Summer camp children whose parents regularly require child-care services beyond the camp day.  The work hours are 2pm-6pm.

    Successful candidates must pass a criminal background check, FBI fingerprinting, and submit a completed health form in accordance with District of Columbia law.

  • Summer Nurse

    Beauvoir, the National Cathedral Elementary School in Washington, D.C. seeks a qualified registered nurse to supervise medical care for children in the Early Learning Center and Pre-Kindergarten to Eighth Grade Summer Program. The nurse will work from 8:00 a.m. – 4 :00 p.m. from June 8 - July 31, 2020.
     
    The nurse will be responsible for assessing the health status of children in the identification and prevention of illnesses and for providing general healthcare. The nurse must respect the confidentiality inherent to the health profession and will work with the School's other nurse to maintain accurate and proper documentation and records. 
     
    Candidates must have demonstrated ability to function as an interdisciplinary team member and willingness to uphold the mission of the School. Successful candidates will possess the qualities of maturity, diplomacy, integrity, and ability to work well with others.

    Requirements: 
    • Ability to relate to and provide healthcare for children ages three months to seventeen years old.
    • Prior experience in a staff nurse capacity in a school or pediatric healthcare facility or division preferable.
    • Graduate of an approved registered nurse program.
    • Valid and current license to practice in Washington DC as a Registered Nurse (or ability to obtain one prior to June 2020)
    • Current CPR certification, health exam, and TB test.
    • Knowledge of current principles and best practices of nursing standards of care.
    • Knowledge of occupational exposure to blood-borne pathogen standards and operational procedures.
    • Demonstrated ability to maintain personal and professional accountability by adhering to state mandates and established policies, procedures, and standards of excellence while providing quality health care.
    • Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing (including electronic communications).
    Preference will be given to candidates with prior pediatric healthcare experience. In addition, candidate must successfully pass a criminal background check, fingerprinting. and complete the Staff Health Certificate issued by the District of Columbia for child development facilities.

  • Counselors-in-Training and CIT Pre-Week Leadership Program

    Counselors-in-Training (CITs) are rising students in grades 6 through 12 who want to gain experience working within a camp program. Seven one-week options available. 

    CIT Pre-Week Leadership Program open to rising grades 6-12
    June 8 - 12, 2020 - $750 including certifications, 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. lunch included & daily swimming.

  • Internship: Social Media Coordinator

    Do you love social media? Are you looking for a summer opportunity for potential class credit? Beauvoir Summer is looking for a Social Media Intern to highlight the awesomeness of our camp to the community.

    Responsibilities include:
    • Capturing camp moments through photography and editing photos appropriately
    • Running the Beauvoir Summer social accounts to highlight each day ( Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
    • Supporting the CIT Coordinator with the Internal Camp Newsletter
    Other tasks as assigned.

    Requirements:
    Must be available June 15th - July 31st, be punctual and reliable, be able to communicate professionally, and have excellent writing skills. Experience using of digital SLR camera a plus. Hours are negotiable but must be available daily Monday through Friday during camp hours.

  • Internships

    Do you need to fulfill classroom hours for your college education program?  Get it done over the summer with us. We welcome interns who will get experience in a variety of grade level classroom settings.

Beauvoir Summer is located at Beauvoir, the National Cathedral Elementary School, on the 60-acre Cathedral Close in Washington, DC. Beauvoir is a coeducational Pre-Kindergarten through Third Grade school carefully designed for young learners.
