  • Summer Nurse

    Beauvoir, the National Cathedral Elementary School in Washington, D.C. seeks a qualified registered nurse to supervise medical care for children between three months and nine years old in the Early Learning Center, Pre-Kindergarten to Third Grade Summer Program. The nurse will work from 8:00 a.m. – 4 :00 p.m. from June 11 - June 29, 2018.
     
    The nurse will be responsible for assessing the health status of children in the identification and prevention of illnesses and for providing general healthcare. The nurse must respect the confidentiality inherent to the health profession and will work with the School's other nurse to maintain accurate and proper documentation and records. 
     
    Preference will be given to candidates with prior pediatric healthcare experience. In addition, candidate must successfully pass a criminal background check and complete the Staff Health Certificate issued by the District of Columbia for child development facilities.
     
    Candidates must have demonstrated ability to function as an interdisciplinary team member and willingness to uphold the mission of the School. Successful candidates will possess the qualities of maturity, diplomacy, integrity, and ability to work well with others.
     
    Requirements:
     
    Ability to relate to and provide healthcare for children ages three months to nine years old.
     
    Prior experience in a staff nurse capacity in a school or pediatric healthcare facility or division preferable.
     
    Graduate of an approved registered nurse program.
     
    Valid and current license to practice locally as a registered nurse.
     
    Current CPR certification, health exam, and TB test.
     
    Knowledge of current principles and best practices of nursing standards of care.
     
    Knowledge of occupational exposure to blood-borne pathogen standards and operational procedures.
     
    Demonstrated ability to maintain personal and professional accountability by adhering to state mandates and established policies, procedures, and standards of excellence while providing quality health care.
     
    Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing (including electronic communications).

  • Lead and Assistant Counselors

    Thank you for your interest.....WE ARE CURRENTLY FULLY STAFFED.

    Each year, Beauvoir carefully selects Lead Counselors and Assistant Counselors from a pool of interested candidates. Lead Counselors are college graduates, and most often teachers from Beauvoir and other local elementary schools, with training in early childhood education. Assistant Counselors must be at least 18 years old and have an interest in working with young children.

  • Counselors-in-Training

    Counselors-in-Training (CITs) are rising students in grades 6 through 12 who want to gain experience working within a camp program. If you are interested in the CIT Program, registration will take place through the registration site, as if registering as camper. 7 one-week options to choose from. Click here to learn more about the program.

  • Swim Staff

    Thank you for your interest.... WE ARE CURRENTLY FULLY STAFFED.

    Our Swim Staff provides a safe, developmentally appropriate environment for our campers.  They are familiar with Red Cross swim levels and water safety practice.  The Swim Staff is able to adapt their teaching approaches to the age, experience and ability of participants, so they can meet course objectives while having fun.  Each member of the Swim Staff is CPR/AED and First Aid certified. In addition to our swim staff, the Beauvoir Pool has lifeguards on duty at all times.

  • After Camp Staff (ABC)

    Thank you for your interest.... WE ARE CURRENTLY FULLY STAFFED.

    The After Beauvoir Center (ABC) staff offers extended day services to all camp families with pre-registration. The principal goal of ABC is to provide a safe, stimulating and relaxed environment for Beauvoir Summer camp children whose parents regularly require child-care services beyond the camp day.

About Beauvoir

Beauvoir Summer is located at Beauvoir, the National Cathedral Elementary School, on the 60-acre Cathedral Close in Washington, DC. Beauvoir is a coeducational Pre-Kindergarten through Third Grade school carefully designed for young learners.
