2019 Camps

Brown Bears (Rising 4th & 5th Grade)

The Brown Bear program is designed for rising 4th and 5th grade, offering week-long programs to our most mature campers. Each week is themed based offering a wide variety of activities. Program highlights include the Trailblazers week and Outdoor Adventures camp out, with excursions and swimming daily at the Beauvoir Pool.

New for 2019! We are starting the Brown Bears camps one week early, June 10 -14. The Brown Bears program will now offer EIGHT different one-week themed camp options. These options are full-day programs and all include daily swim instruction. See tabs below for individual week information.

  • NEW! Pre-Week: June 10 - 14 - Surf and Turf Sports

    Surf and Turf Sports Camp
    Full-Day Camp - $
    8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., lunch & swimming instruction included

    Come join us for the first ever "Surf and Turf" summer sports camp this year at Beauvoir!  The campers will spend half of the day at the pool and the other half of the day in the gym and on the field. In the morning, campers will be at the pool playing various water sports and games.  After lunch will consist of multi sports and games in the gym and outside.  Sports and games include: hockey, baseball, basketball, water polo, water basketball, soccer, and flag football.

  • Week 4: July 8 - 12 - Trailblazers

    Beauvoir Trailblazers

    This program is the very definition of trailblazing! Campers will be challenged with fun and exciting summertime activities like rock climbing, kayaking or canoeing at Riley's Locks, hiking, and whitewater rafting at Carderock. Watch your camper develop confidence and lifelong skills while having the summer of his or her life as a Beauvoir Trailblazer! Activities are subject to change.

    Clothing: Participants should wear all purpose clothing designed for water and land. Bathing suits, shorts, dry tops, and water shoes are all highly recommended.

  • Week 5: July 15 - July 20 - Outdoor Adventures

    * pick up from the sleepover will be Saturday, July 20 at 8:00 a.m.

    Outdoor Adventures will take advantage of the great outdoors exploring the best that the D.C. area has to offer. Highlights of this camp are hiking the Billy Goat Trail, exploring Great Falls National Park, and an all-day trip to Adventure Island across from Rilely's Lock. The group will cross the Potomac in the "war canoe", experience team-building challenges, rapid swimming, fire building, tree houses, and island games. At the end of this adventurous day,
    campers will return to Beauvoir for a cookout with their family and an overnight campout* on campus. Campers will feel like they are at a sleep-away camp as they challenge themselves on a daily basis with outdoor activities. All of this while forming new friendships and having plenty of time to do one of the most important activities any camp can offer—just being a kid.

  • Swimming at Camp

    Beauvoir campers of all ages have the opportunity to enhance their swimming skills through group instruction. Grouped by skill, campers learn a variety of swim techniques, practice water-safety skills, and play fun water games.

  • Before and After Camp Care

    Extended camp care is available before camp from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. or after camp from 3:00p.m. to 6:00 p.m. During this time, children will enjoy a more relaxed program including outdoor play, snack, indoor arts and crafts, and other games. Time is also devoted to quiet relaxation and group activities. Pre-registration is required and a drop-in option cannot be accommodated during the summer camp. Beauvoir Summer is located at Beauvoir, the National Cathedral Elementary School, on the 60-acre Cathedral Close in Washington, DC. Beauvoir is a coeducational Pre-Kindergarten through Third Grade school carefully designed for young learners.
