Beauvoir Ice Rink

We are thrilled to introduce Beauvoir's newest community space for learning and play - the Beauvoir Ice Rink! Our inaugural season will run mid-November 2019 to mid-March 2020. Below are the first details on membership pricing, weekday and weekend group and private skate lessons, and much more!  Open to Beauvoir and Close families, neighbors and friends, the Beauvoir Winter Ice Rink is located on the grounds of the Washington National Cathedral overtop the Beauvoir Pool area. See tab below for pricing.

2019-20 Beauvoir Ice Rink Registration Information & Highlights:

Chairs, benches, small tables, and outdoor heaters are provided to offer comfort and ease within the scenic and refreshing surroundings of the new Beauvoir Ice Rink. Children are welcome to use the adjacent playground on the weekends under parent supervision. Concessions may be purchased from our snack bar. Rink guards and an ice rink manager are on duty during the hours the rink is open.

    Individuals must be 15 yrs or older to use the ice rink facilities without the supervision of an adult member. Please note, we will be doing Photo Membership passes for all adults and any children above 15 years of age. Payments for memberships are final, nonrefundable and nontransferable. 
  • Weekend Group Ice Skating Lessons

    Lesson registration coming Fall 2019!

    Half hour group ice skating lessons will be offered to children ages 3 yrs to 10 yrs. on Saturdays and Sundays. Schedule and times TBD.

  • Private Ice Skating Lessons 

    Private ice skating lesson booklets will be sold in packets of 5 starting in September 2019. The booklet rates are $359 for five half-hour lessons. 

    Additional booklets can be purchased or add-on individual lessons may be purchased at $70 for each individual half-hour lesson. 

    Private ice skating lessons are only available to 2019-20 Ice Rink Members or Close Members. Lessons can be scheduled to start December 2019 during membership weekday hours. Further instruction on how to schedule lessons will be emailed to families in September. Unused booklets cannot be used after March 1, 2020.
  • Beauvoir Ice Skating Enrichments

    Beauvoir will offer after school enrichment ice skating program during the winter season. These programs will only be open to current Beauvoir students. For information please contact the auxiliary office this coming fall 2019 at 202-537-5264 or see programs offered in the Winter Enrichment Packet.

  • Can I rent the ice rink?

    The Beauvoir ice rink is available to rent. Rental times and pricing will be available at a later date. 
  • Beauvoir Parking & Location

    The Beauvoir Pool is located behind Beauvoir School on Pilgrim Road. Pilgrim Road is only accessible from Massachusetts Avenue through St. Albans main entrance. On weekdays, parking for the ice rink is available in the Cathedral Garage with an hourly fee. On weekends, parking is available in front of Beauvoir School, on Pilgrim Road, entering from St. Albans, or in the Cathedral Garage for a fee.
  • How does one access the ice rink with a stroller?  Can I bring a stroller on deck?

    The main rink is also handicap accessible. Stroller access will be possible from Pilgrim Road. Strollers can be brought on deck if the safety rules are adhered to. Please see ice rink manager when arriving for details.
  • Can I bring a caretaker or nanny?

    A membership must be purchased for each individual named on the family account, including caretakers or nannies.
  • Can I bring guests and what is that cost?

    Members are welcome to bring up to two guests per visit. Guest passes are $10.00 per adult (15 years and up) guest and $5.00 per child (3-14 years old) guest. Valid for a one time use and can be purchased at the rink. Additional guests are not permitted beyond the two per family/individual membership, no exceptions. It is at the discretion of the rink management to decline any guest passes if the day’s capacity has been met.

  • Is there a snack bar?

    The snack bar shares a space with the ice rink check-in desk and skate rental booth, located at the pool entrance. Food is provided by Beauvoir's dining service, Meriwether Godsey. The snack bar serves beverages, snacks, and is open during rink hours. 
  • Do you pro-rate memberships?

    We do not pro-rate memberships.
  • How large is the rink?

    The rink is approximately 45 feet by 80 feet and 3600 square feet.
  • How is the rink being resurfaced and how often?

    Mini reserfacer and once every hour and a half
  • Is skate sharpening available?

    Yes, skate sharping will be available for a fee of $12.00 per sharping.
