CIT Program – ages 12-16

CIT Program – ages 12-16

The Counselor in Training (CIT) program is a great opportunity for tweens and teens ages 12-16 to receive in-depth experience and hands-on training in supervision and teaching techniques while they assist with a camp group in the Beauvoir Summer Program.  CIT’s will learn about responsibility, teamwork, safety and the best child supervision techniques while assisting with activities such as sports, arts and crafts, cooking and field trips.  Each CIT will be placed with a camp group and work closely with Lead and Assistant Counselors in the areas of programming and classroom management.  CIT’s will gain skills to become competent, confident counselors or trained volunteers working with young children.  Weekly meetings are held to discuss the overall experience and to learn new strategies for working with young children.

Due to overwhelming demand for this program those interested in becoming a CIT, including returning CIT’s, must complete an application and an interview before they register.   To receive an application and schedule an interview please contact Summer Camp Assistant Director Elizabeth Yen at 202-537-5264 .  Acceptance into the program will be based on the application, interview and availability with the program.
