Hours- Summer Camp Hours are 8:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m. The Before Camp Program and After Camp Program are available for families who need additional time on either end of the camp day. See page 13 for more information.
Counselors- The Beauvoir Summer Program is staffed by trained counselors who have child care experience and enjoy working with young children. Many counselors are elementary school teachers in local schools. Counselor Assistants and Counselors in Training (CITs) are college and high school students who are interested in working with young children. If you know someone between the ages of 12 and 16 who may be interested in the CIT program, please see page 11 for more information, or log on to http://summer.beauvoirschool.org to register.
Additional Information
MEALS – Brown bag lunch and snacks will be provided to all full day campers. Half day programs will receive a snack.
CLOTHING – Since play is a priority, children are asked to dress comfortably. Sneakers and socks are required, no crocs or flip-flops, please.
HEALTH STAFF – Your child’s safety and health is one of Beauvoir’s top concerns. Camp will have a First Aid & CPR trained health staff member on site during all camp hours to assist in all medical and emergency.
Tuition Deadline- Payment must be made in full by May 3, 2012, or the child’s place in camp will be forfeited. Checks should be made payable to Beauvoir Summer Program. For questions pertaining to summer tuition payments, contact Hugh Squire at 202-537-2313.
Refund Policy- Refunds of deposits are made only in the event that there are no openings available in a program you selected, or a program is cancelled. If you cancel registration on or before April 15, 2012, tuition fees (less the $150 deposit) will be refunded. If registration is canceled after April 15, 2012, all fees will be forfeited. There are no refunds for absences.
Financial Aid- Financial aid is available for all Summer Camp classes, but is not available for the Before Camp Program, the After Camp Program or Swim Lessons. To apply for financial aid, please check the box on the application form. You will receive the necessary financial aid forms, which are due no later than March 16, 2012. Financial aid is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Recipients will be notified before May 4, 2012. Financial aid is based upon your total camp weeks and does not include before or after camp care or swimming lesson fees.
Camp with a Friend- If you would like your child to be placed in the same camp class with a friend, please indicate that information in the “Camp with a Friend” section of the application. We will try our best to make this accommodation.
Additional Terms- Admission to the program is on a first-come, first-served basis. We reserve the right to close registration for programs that are filled and to cancel programs that are undersubscribed. Beauvoir recommends that campers bring no other items to camp other than a water bottle, swim suit and a change of clothes. Beauvoir is not responsible for lost items. Under no circumstances are campers allowed to bring valuables, weapons, card collections, radios or other electronic devices. Beauvoir is not responsible for such items if brought to camp. Any camper caught possessing a weapon will be removed from camp without refund. We reserve the right to use photographs taken during our summer session in our brochures and advertisements. Children will not be identified by name in advertisements or brochures. If you would like to request photos of your child not be used, please write a note to the Summer Camp Director. Beauvoir reserves the right to dismiss any camper whose behavior is not consistent with the expectations of the Beauvoir Summer Program.
